Hi, I’m Jason Liu, Last year at ArtCenter College of Design, focusing on footwear design.
Magic happened when I was ten. Vince Carter won the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest wearing shoes that were a yin-yang pattern. Even though he performed the greatest dunk in NBA history, my eyes couldn't move from his shoes.
For me, footwear design is “functional fashion”, the balance between aesthetics and innovation. Designing a product that people LOVE starts with the first impression, the silhouette, the proportion and the color/material. In order to create a LOYAL customer, the design must solve problems, enhance performance and envision the future. And to build a BRAND, I want to bridge aesthetics and innovation with a storytelling that is steeped in culture and rich with emotion.
Everything above this line is too official...
